This page lists data packages containing national-level datasets (produced by Trends.Earth), following accepted best practices for calculating the UNCCD Indicators for land degradation and drought vulnerability and exposure.
These zipfiles are designed to be imported directly into Trends.Earth, and may be useful to countries reporting to the UNCCD on Strategic Objectives 1, 2, and 3 (including SDG Indicator 15.3.1). Global datasets are also available as Cloud-optimized GeoTIFFs (COGs) and as Google Earth Engine assets. The methods used to produce the estimates of land degradation in these files are consistent with Version 2.0 of the Good Practice Guidance for SDG Indicator 15.3.1. Calculations of land condition are consistent with the addendum to that guidance. Calculations of drought vulnerability and exposure are consistent with the Good Practice Guidance for National Reporting on UNCCD Strategic Objective 3.

SDG Indicator 15.3.1 (UNCCD Strategic Objectives 1 and 2)
The below datasets can be used to support assessing SDG Indicator 15.3.1, and include indicators of change in land productivity dynamics (LPD), land cover, and soil organic carbon. These datasets can be used to support reporting on UNCCD Strategic Objectives 1 and 2. Note that there are three different LPD datasets available (from the default Trends.Earth method, from FAO-WOCAT, and from JRC).

Drought hazard, vulnerability and exposure (UNCCD Strategic Objective 3)
The below datasets can be used to support assessing drought hazard, vulnerability, and exposure, and for reporting on UNCCD Strategic Objective 3.
These data are processed in accordance with the Good Practice Guidance for National Reporting on UNCCD Strategic Objective 3. Two variations of the data are provided. Both are based on the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) for a 12-month accumulation period. One version uses the Global Multi-Index Drought (GMID) dataset from the UK-CEH, the other uses an SPI dataset derived by the Trends.Earth team from the CHIRPS precipitation dataset.
CHIRPS is a gridded precipitation dataset spanning 50°S-50°N, starting in 1981, that merges in-situ with satellite data to produce a timeseries grid.
